Simply Lasagna

New family fave Simply Lasagna recipe at Kraftfoods.com. It looked and smelled divine, even my honey thought so. So happy to not have to pre-cook the noodles. The original calls for ricotta, but Fred Meyer's low-fat cottage cheese works just fine for us.

1 pound or 2 1/2 cups ground turkey or beef

2-1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided

1 container (15 ounce) cottage cheese

1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese, divided

1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley or 4 teaspoons dried

1 egg, beaten

1 jar (26 ounce) spaghetti sauce

1 cup water

12 lasagna noodles, uncooked

Heat oven to 350°F. Brown meat in large skillet on medium-high heat. Meanwhile, mix 1-1/4 cups mozzarella cheese, the ricotta cheese, 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, parsley and egg until well blended; set aside.

Drain meat and add spaghetti sauce. Add water to empty sauce jar, replace lid and shake; add to meat mixture; stir 'til well blended.

1. Spread 1 cup of the sauce onto bottom of 13x9-inch baking dish

2. Top with layers of 3 lasagna noodles, 1/3 of the cottage cheese mixture and 1 cup sauce.

3. Repeat layers twice.

4. Top with remaining 3 noodles and the remaining meat sauce.

5. Sprinkle remaining 1-1/4 cups mozzarella and remaining 1/4 cup parmesan cheese on top.

6. Cover with pam sprayed foil (prevents the cheese from sticking to the foil, very important).

Bake 45 min. Remove foil and bake an additional 15 min. or until heated through. Let stand 15 minutes before cutting.
